Advancing Energy Equity in LA County

Community Conference & Resource Expo:
Urban Renewable Energy Summit (Spring 2025)
In Spring 2025, MREP CA hosted the inaugural Urban Renewable Energy Summit, a first-of-its-kind event focused specifically on connecting Los Angeles County’s urban communities to clean energy, sustainability, and economic opportunity.
Designed as an access-building platform, the Summit mobilized minority professionals across the sustainability sector and intentionally bridged them with LA’s urban marketplace.
The event was unique in its dual focus on both the green economy and the blue economy, highlighting workforce pathways, business opportunities, and emerging industries often overlooked in urban sustainability conversations.
The Summit also introduced attendees to AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, showcasing its leadership in aquaculture, ocean-based climate solutions, and blue economy innovation—expanding participants’ understanding of sustainability beyond land-based systems.
MREP CA Impact:
-
Engaged 300+ attendees from across Los Angeles County
-
Featured 40+ clean energy and sustainability exhibitors representing both green and blue economy sectors
-
Successfully expanded awareness and access to workforce, business, and education opportunities within emerging sustainable industries
Building on this momentum, MREP CA will host the 2nd Annual Urban Renewable Energy Summit in April 2026 in the City of Inglewood, with an anticipated attendance of 500+ participants, further strengthening pathways to equitable participation in California’s clean energy and sustainability future.
